Dear Friends and Supporters,
Today I met someone who said, “It’s been a while since we have received Neville’s newsletter … .”
Someone else said earlier on, “How is Esther in Myanmar doing after that awful accident?”
It’s great to have comments like that! It means that people remember and are looking forward to more news. Thanks for your prayers, your support and thoughtfulness.
Neville is on the road again, this time for 2 months. While away, his computer wouldn’t work, so Brenda and I will put the newsletter together for you instead. It’s wonderful to have Brenda working for us. When Neville is away, I have someone to consult and share the load with.
Neville has just finished a much needed fundraising trip to the US. On his way he met up with another vital contact in London and when you receive this letter he will be in Africa. He will be visiting Kenya, Uganda & Egypt and possibly the Sudan and Jordan. Please pray for safe travels and much wisdom especially in dealing with a difficult situation.
Kenya Christian School for the Deaf
Baylor meets KCSD - love is universal.
This building was no match for the storm.
The school has recently had a wonderful visit by 25 people from Baylor (Texas, US) including engineering, medical & deaf education students. They helped out in so many ways and brought with them a lot of supplies of various kinds. A big Thank You to all of you from Baylor! A storm hit the rented school facility before the visitors arrived. The corrugated iron building used for classrooms blew down. A better building was erected with money that was given for food. Praise the Lord that someone soon replaced those funds! The small school is overflowing. Do pray for the deaf children, the staff and further building plans!
Motorbikes for Rural Evangelists in Uganda
Richard with his wife and 8 children.
Do you remember pastor Richard in Lira with the 8 kids? He and other deaf evangelists need motorbikes. For deaf, who are scattered around in vast rural areas, a visit from a deaf evangelist means a lot to them. In areas where there is little or no means of transport, motorbikes are the best way to travel. We hope to purchase 5 bikes, each costing USD1,500 (AUD2,000). In Melbourne we had another lovely BBQ at Susan’s which raised $1,070 for motorbikes. Gifts from Norway have also come in which should be sufficient to purchase 2 bikes! Hopefully we can soon buy at least two bikes - maybe three. If so, only 2 more to go!
Kalay, Myanmar
For those of you who receive DMI Updates on e-mail, you have already read about Esther’s injury after a bad motor cycle accident in late April. Esther is one of our two teachers in Kalay. She sustained severe liver and lung injuries and was not expected to live, but is now improving. She is still in intensive care.
Please continue to pray for Esther as well as the deaf school as they are about to commence the second year of running the school; this time with many more students.
DMI’s 8th Educational Project
DMI’s new kindergarten in Thailand is being recommended by all hospitals in Chiang Mai to families with children being diagnosed as deaf. What a wonderful chance for these youngsters to learn sign language early!

Christian Camp for the Deaf in Egypt
DMI’s very first Christian camp for deaf in Egypt is planned for the 23-26 June. Neville and Pastor Rod Chapman (D) will both be attending and speaking at the conference. We thank the Lord for this unique opportunity!
Thank you for your continued support and interest in DMI’s work!
God Bless,
Neville, Lill and Ian
