Dear Friends and supporters,
This letter will be slightly different than usual: just a series of short comments regarding problems and blessings. Please read and pray over these issues.
Good Problem:
Josephat Mulongo, pastor of our Nairobi church, reports that about 80 people are now attending and trying to fit into a room that seats 50 people. They have asked the landlord for permission to remove a wall, but this means that the office will become part of the meeting room. It would be great if all our churches had this problem.
Hebel Ouma has started another church in Kakemaga, western Kenya. He is already pastoring the Mumias and Bungoma churches.
Not So Good Problem:
A new group in Oserian near Naivasha is asking for a full-time worker. Josephat is travelling there when he can to lead services and do Bible teaching. He is already working in Nairobi, Nakuru and Ikinu. Too much work and not enough workers.
We have been unable to help financially with a camp planned for 12-15 August in Nakuru. It was some years since our last camp. There are no funds locally or internationally to help, so pray that the Lord will bless by other means.
Serious Problem:
Only 64% of the promised funds were sent to the fields this past July. This puts serious strain on the ministries especially when salaries are to be paid and children fed. Please pray with us as we try to work out how to cater to these periodic drops in income and look for new ways to meet the ministry expenses. The thought of having to close some areas when there are such opportunities and openings is more than I can even begin to face.
The Good Stuff:
Pa Lian and his wife Winnie in Myanmar were blessed with a baby girl. Pa Lian is planning a trip next month to Upper Myanmar to look for a worker so that we can start a new ministry in Kalay.
David and Ruthie had a great wedding in Japan and another reception here in Australia. They are happily settling into life here in Melbourne.
I head off to the Philippines on August 17th to take part in the opening and dedication of the new dorm and church in Davao. It will be opened and dedicated on August 26th, finished or not! Money has been coming in to pay off the $AUD100,000 construction cost. We now owe about $65,000.
Conference:
Just a year to go: 2-6 August, 2005. Registrations are already beginning to come in. It sounds a long way off, but it really isn’t, so do let us know if you are interested in coming and we can send you more information. This is our third conference and will be held near Kampala in Uganda. Here is your chance for a trip to Africa.
God Bless,
Neville, Lill and family
