Deaf Ministries Update

Bringing the Gospel to the Deaf

December 2003

Prayer Points

  • Financial stabilisation for 2004
  • Praise for those who have come to know Christ over the year
  • For strength and encouragement for workers

Dear Friends and Supporters,

It only seems like a few weeks ago that we were packing up the Christmas decorations and now we are getting them out again. Even our Ian comments on how fast time has gone. I guess it is a symptom of our modern rushed living.

This Christmas we are blessed to have Lill’s mum with us here in Australia. She was able to make the long trip from Norway, some thing that we did not think she would ever be able to do. She is an 88-year-old jet setter! We are so thankful for her renewed energy after a long illness and her enthusiasm, positive attitude and love for the Lord whose earthly birthday we are about to celebrate. David’s friend Ruthie from the US will also be with us for part of the holiday season so the house is full. We have much to be thankful for.

I guess that this is the best time to express our thanks to so many people who are a part of this ministry. Where do I begin? Without wishing to slight anyone I think I will just mention folk as they come to mind. Our thanks to our boards who stand behind us advising, giving financial support and so much of their time and effort for this work. To our workers in 12 countries, many of who survive on the bread line and face difficulties day by day that we in our comfortable homes and conditions would find it hard to understand. God bless you all. To our financial and prayer supporters: what could we do with out you? Nothing. Thank you to our family, for Lill who puts her heart and soul into the work, for Brent who takes our minutes and looks after the web site, and for David, Erik and Ian who financially contribute as well and have put up with swarms of visitors, an office in their home and so many other sacrifices that come with a ministry being a lifestyle. I thank the Lord for our family.

We have seen a year of tremendous growth in the ministry in some countries, maintaining the status quo in others and decline in a few. It is all in God’s hands, which is another thing that we can be thankful for. This is His work not ours. With the stresses, pressures and challenges daily we have some times fallen into the trap of thinking this is our show when in fact it belongs to God and He is the source.

We look forward to 2004 with expectations of growth and blessings from God. We hope to work out some strategies that will help stabilize the financial support of the work so that it is not so roller coaster-ish. Pray with us for a great year as we commit it to Him, the Lord of the harvest.

Thank you for being such an important part of this work bringing the good news to the deaf. Have a wonderful Christmas and our best wishes for a Happy and fulfilling New Year.

God Bless,

Neville, Lill and family
