Sale of books to support DMI
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Greetings again from Melbourne. It seems ages since I have been to the airport and people seem amazed every Sunday at church that I am still here. This stable suburban living will come to an end at the end of August though, when I head for the Philippines and then again in late September or October to Myanmar. About $40,000 has been sent to the Philippines to begin the construction of the dormitory and home in Davao. For those who have given to this project our grateful thanks. By the time this letter reaches you, preparation of the land will have commenced and the foundations soon to be laid. We still need about $90,000 more.
Young Jun helping in our office
Office
Life in Melbourne has been busy never-the-less. Our move to the new office has been very successful, but we are still moving things from home to be used there. We still maintain the Beaconsfield office that Lill works out of and I do also on the days that I don’t head for Mitcham. We are blessed to have a young Korean guy, Nam Young Jun working with us and with DMI Australia. He is here for a year of study and experience and has proven to be a tremendous help to me. We have been looking for an office manager and although he is not a professional office worker he is filling that job very adequately. I also get help with my Korean too.
Lynne back from Africa
Lynne made it back safely from Africa and has piles more photos of kids who need sponsors. We will be doing another push for sponsors now as the work grows and the needs increase. She is available for meetings too if you would like to hear more of DMI’s activities and sponsorship needs especially her recent experiences in Uganda and Kenya.
International board meeting
From the 11th to the 15th of August, we will be holding, here in Melbourne, a conference of representatives of our boards in Japan, the US, Norway and Australia. For five days we will be sitting around our dining room table thrashing out strategies, organizational matters and policies that we hope will be a help to us in the future. People keep telling us that we are not getting any younger and we have to be thinking of the future. I guess I have to agree even though I don’t feel any older … until I look in the mirror that is.
Prayer Points
- International Board Meeting Aug 11-15th
- DMI Promotion Rally Aug 15th
- Successful sale of 1000 books
- Provision of necessary funds for Davao project
DMI promotion rally
On the evening of the 15th of August we will be holding at Monash City Church of Christ a DMI promotion rally for those living in the Melbourne area. I know that you overseas will not have much of a chance to attend, but please pray for this meeting that many new supporters for DMI will be found. Jack Marshall will probably be the speaker, I say “probably”, because we have really invited Buddy Cuare from our DMI school in the Philippines as speaker. He still does not have a visa so Jack has been willing to step in if Buddy doesn’t show up. You will be able to hear the latest DMI reports, hear Lynne speak on Africa, Sarah on the Philippines and see the latest video made of DMI work worldwide.
Book production
As you know, we are always trying to raise money for the work. Maybe you can help in this way. A young guy, Peter Nichols by name, has produced a little book of photos and inspirational Bible verses. These are photos that he has taken around Victoria and produced in book form. These books make a wonderful gift and can be purchased from DMI. Why we are plugging this book is because Peter has offered to give the profits from the book to DMI. The cost of the book is $7 plus postage. Peter has also made a collection of beautiful greeting cards too which we can supply you with. If you would like to support DMI in this way please let me know and I will send one or more to you.
Thank you all for your continued support both financially and prayerfully.
God Bless,
Neville, Lill and family
