Thailand
The goal of Deaf Ministries International Thailand is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the deaf of Thailand in Thai sign language, and to train them how to evangelise and disciple other deaf for Jesus Christ. We do this by ministering to them spiritually, physically, emotionally, and socially.
DMI Centre in Chiangmai
The centre of DMI work in Thailand is in the northern city of
Chiangmai. The work was commenced by Dewayne and Jackie Liebrandt who
are now US based and heading up the work in Colombia South America.
The current director of DMI Thailand is Vorapon Thinnagorn, better
known as Tomm. Much of DMI’s activities in Thailand go under the name
of My Sign.
My Sign Church
Pongasak
Centre of DMI activity in Thailand is the church. Pongsak is the
leader and preacher in the church. All services are in Thai sign
language.
My Sign Kindergarten
The My Sign kindergarten was commenced to give young deaf children a
head start in sign language before they entered school. It was
discovered that many young deaf children stayed in their villages
until the age of 6 with no sign language instruction or opportunity
for good language acquisition. Teachers at the My Sign Kindergarten
are deaf and all instruction is in sign language. When our
‘“graduates” go on to the deaf school they are better in sign
language than the teacher!
Tasty Mom.
One new venture is the Tasty Mom restaurant. We serve great coffee
and home made Thai food. If you are in Chiangmai make sure you visit
the Tasty Mom. The idea is to employ some of our deaf people as well
as providing income for the work in general.
DMI Productions.
In a well equipped studio, programs for Thai TV for deaf people as
well as devotionals , worship songs in sign language and other
educational productions are made. Deaf people have been trained in
editing , filming and all matters concerned in production of these
materials.

A company in Melbourne, Australia is setting up a bag manufacturing
workshop . John Vasila has visited the centre and instructed our
