From the beginning Australia has always been, and continues to be, a major sending/supporting base, however the Deaf Christian Community Church, Australia is a recent addition to the ministry of Deaf Ministries International. The church is pastored by Rod Chapman and assisted by Trevor Peterson. A full program of Bible studies, prayer meetings, ladies’ and men’s fellowship and worship services are held. Meetings are conducted at the Monash City Church of Christ in Montclair Ave, Glen Waverley, a suburb of Melbourne.
Australia is host to the International Office of DMI. We have been provided with an excellent office space in Pakenham, an outer suburb of Melbourne. You will find us in Treloar Lane (the service road, which runs off John Street) adjacent to the Public car park. Our office is behind Maloney’s Pizza at the end of an 8-space private car park.
Brenda Clearwater, a native New Zealander, serves as Neville & Lill’s personal assistant. She is an integral part of DMI and serves a vital role in both the home base and internationally.
Jenny Reid is our sponsorship coordinator. Serving as a volunteer, she contributes the better part of each week liaising with Australian donors and teachers/workers in the overseas fields. In October 2007 DMI’s sponsorship program formed a partnership with, and became known as, the Deaf Action Overseas Aid Fund. You can read more about those registered projects (tax deductible in Australia) here Deaf ACTION
Lill Muir also works in the office and is responsible for Norwegian affairs as well as serving the Australian and international scene.
Matt Farmilo came on board in May to take over the very important role of bookkeeper, and Amy Jack assists Brenda with administrative duties.
